Bring a friend, and the game remembers who did

A 5v5 game doesn't need sign-ups as much as it needs people on the same pitch at the same time. A hundred sign-ups spread across a week means a hundred empty lobbies. Five friends showing up together means a match, and a reason to come back tomorrow.

That's the idea behind the new referral system.

Your link

You'll find it on your player page under Referrals, and there's a "Refer a friend" link in the footer of every hub page. It looks like footballerz.online/?ref=K7QM4X2P.

The code is yours and never changes, even if you change your nickname. If your friend loses the link, that's fine: the sign-up form has a box where they can type the code or just your name, and it suggests names as they type. People remember a nick they heard on Discord, not how it's spelled. We only ask once, when the account is created.

It pays for playing, not for signing up

This is the important part. Nothing is credited when someone registers. A referral starts counting when your friend reaches level 5, which is about six or seven hours of playing with other people. From then on, every milestone they reach gives you exactly what it gives them:

They reach They get You get
Level 5 1 day of Supporter 1 day of Supporter
Level 10 2 days 2 days
Level 15 3 days 3 days
Level 20 4 days 4 days
Level 25 5 days 5 days

That's up to 15 days per friend, spread over the time they play, and there's no limit on how many friends you bring. No money changes hands either way. You earn Supporter time, which gets you looks, convenience and status, never power. Two players stepping onto the pitch always have identical mechanical tools, and referrals don't change that.

You both get the same reward because you both got there together.

Why nothing is paid out yet

During early access, everyone effectively has Supporter. New accounts start with a month of it, and when that month runs out we extend it. Giving you Supporter days now would mean giving you something you already have.

So your days are recorded and saved instead. Your page lists each one as you earn it, and the amount is locked in on the day you earn it. When the game leaves early access and Supporter becomes a real subscription, the claim buttons unlock and you can collect everything on your account, one milestone at a time, whenever you like. Nothing expires and nothing gets lost in the meantime.

Two more things about how this works, both on purpose:

  • You claim each milestone yourself. Supporter time starts running as soon as it's granted. If we gave you twenty days while you were away for two weeks, you'd only get six of them. So each milestone waits until you claim it.
  • Rewards can only go up. The amount is saved when you earn it, not checked when you claim it, so we can't quietly lower it later.

Scout: how many friends play

The milestones above reward how far one friend gets. There's a second track on the same page for how many of your friends play: 3, 10, 25, 50 and 100 friends who reached level 5.

We haven't decided the rewards for those yet, and the page says so: rewards to be announced. It might be a title, a matchball nobody can buy, a badge next to your name, or something else. We'd rather leave the reward blank for now than promise something we haven't worked out. Your count is recorded from today, whatever it ends up being worth.

In short

Send your link to the people you already play with. When they play, you both get something, and the game remembers who brought who. See you on the pitch.
